This class is offered weekly, starting from Wednesday 30th April, 2025.

Classes are limited to 16 people and will take place at Yoga Space Gippsland.

This is a 90 minute session, from 11:00am - 1:30pm.

  • This class is commonly known as Bikram Yoga, a specific style of hot yoga founded by Bikram Choudhury.

    Originating from the lineage of Bishnu Ghosh, Bikram Yoga comprises a series of 26 postures (Āsanas) and two breathing exercises (Pranayama).

    While traditionally performed in a heated room, these postures can also be practiced without heat, retaining their profound benefits.

  • The Classic 26 + 2 or AKA Bikram Yoga has its roots in the teachings of Bishnu Ghosh, a renowned physical culturist and yoga master.

    Ghosh developed a system of 84 postures designed to promote physical and mental well-being.

    Bikram Choudhury, one of Ghosh’s students, adapted 26 of these postures and incorporated two breathing exercises to create the Bikram Yoga sequence. Some of the postures were slightly modified to better suit the sequence.

    Bikram popularised this practice by introducing it in a heated room, mimicking the climate of India, which helps in warming up the muscles and facilitating detoxification through sweating.
